CREATE DESIGN FOR CHEST PRINTS, NECK, YOKE DESIGNS WITH STENCIL PRINTING (Lab Manual)



Aim:

To print the given cotton material using Stencil with the required portion of fabrics

Recipe:

Pigment = 30 parts

Binder = 600 parts

Fixer = 10 parts

Thickener = 100 (50% solution)

White spirit = 250 parts


The stencil:

The material for making a stencil should be thin and easy to cut. The following materials may be used for this purpose:

  • Cartridge sheet

  • Ivory sheet

  • Bond paper

  • Discarded photographic film negatives

  • Discarded X-Ray film

  • Plastic sheets










Procedure:

  1. The design is firstly cut in paperboard, wood or metal through which color is applied on the fabric.

  2. After transferring the design on to stencil card, the next step is to cut out the stencil carefully leaving the ‘Tie's and a thick border around the outline.

  3. Keep the stencil sheet on a hard surface, like glass or a hard board, for easy cutting.

  4. Cut the entire design through the stencil board, using a stencil-cutting knife or razor blade or a paper cutter.

  5. Try to make clean sharp cuts.

  6. This print is limited in use due to high cost.

The given cotton sample material was printed by using stencil with the required portion of fabrics.
